I would say, to anyone who cared to ask, that my father is a quiet romantic. In the past, he has occasionally made little gifts for my mother for St. Valentine's Day, such as a paper heart that had a hand-whittled arrow through it.

This year, a small local restaurant is having a dinner on St. Valentine's Eve, with dessert consisting of varieties of chocolate from a local chocolatier being served at a small B&B/inn across the road (same owner as the restaurant).

My father made reservations for 6:00 PM at the restaurant. Not only for himself and my mother, but for helwen and myself.

Sometimes his romantic side isn't quite so quiet.
