Not an auspicious start to the day
Oct. 30th, 2009 09:50 amI received a phone call before dawn, to let me know that the cattle were visiting the neighbor's farm. It took me almost 2 hours to round them up and get them back to our farm. 4, including the bull, came back easily; the remaining four were having trouble crossing the line where the fence would normally be(!). They're currently closed up in the bottom of the barn, so that I can fix the fence.
While I was out, my father took a tumble off his walker (reportedly playing an arpeggio on the piano on the way down). He was taken to the hospital by ambulance before I got back to the farmhouse. Checking with the hospital, his surgical site appears to be undamaged, but they're waiting for his doctor to come and check him before releasing him back to us.
Here's hoping that the rest of the day doesn't follow this pattern...
