Deep Freeze: Day -1

fitzwI'm going to post my recollection of the events of the past weekend, where our area was iced over to the point that trees feel and power failed, and our town (among others) was declared a state disaster area.
The storm actually started for us the day before. In a previous post, describing my chores while my father was recuperating from a medical procedure, I mentioned in humorous fashion that a tree limb had fallen in the road directly ahead of the car that I was driving, and that, not having time to stop, I drove directly over it. Fortunately, the limb was dead and fragile, and all that driving over it did was break it into smaller pieces that were easy to remove from the road.
This was a small harbinger of what was to come.
