Fed the chickens this morning, and broke the ice on the waterers — not an easy task, that.

Have to see the orthopedist this morning, for a followup on the MRI images that were taken at the end of last month. Maybe we'll get an idea of what is going on with my shoulder.

Then a few shopping errands on the way home.

My father's dog (now my mother's dog) has tested a “weak” positive for Lyme disease, and is on a regimen of painkillers and antibiotics. Hopefully that will help with his lame foreleg. He certainly seems more energetic this morning; I no longer have to half-carry his 106 lb bulk down the stairs so that he can relieve himself outdoors.

My dog was also lyme pos when we got him. If yours tests only weakly pos, the chances of a full cure are good! Best of luck to you and to him.
Our vet used a long run of doxycycline followed by first lyme vaccine, and immediately followed that with a shorter run of amozycillin and then the second shot of the two part vaccine after that. My little guy tested strongly pos when we got him, and after this regimen tests VERY faintly pos. (He used to live in CT and was likely pos for a year or more.)

Doxycycline (with Pepcid an hour earlier, just in case), plus Tramadol for the lame leg. We only have 10 days of the Doxy so far, to make sure that it doesn't bother his stomach too much. If it does, we'll have to switch to a gentler, but less effective, antibiotic. If it doesn't, we'll get a refill to take us out to 30 days, and if that's effective, increase out to 90 days.
