Saturday
Some of you are aware that
helwen and I were not sure if we would be going to East Kingdom Crown Tourney [SCA] or working the last Farmers Market of the season. As it turns out, it looks like we will be doing neither.
My father is post-op from bladder surgery that he had just before Columbus Day weekend. He has been doing rather well, but took a fall this morning that resulted in a head injury that has put him back in the hospital at Bay State Medical for observation (it looks minor, but head injuries can be deceptive). My mother is staying with relatives in Longmeadow while he is there, so all remaining farm activities (such as feeding their pets) have fallen to the two of us, with possible assistance from one of my brothers who lives locally, until she returns.
I had already been doing all of my father's chores dealing with the chickens and the cattle, but the cattle went walkabout before dawn this morning, which means those chores have increased while I have them confined to the barn so that I can double-check the fence line.
In addition, we need to be available to field phone calls from concerned friends and relatives.
I wish to thank everyone who has sent us messages, both public and private. It is definitely appreciated.
We hope everyone has a good time tomorrow.
